Beauty Empties + Products I Regret Buying! Featuring MAC, Benefit and more!

Hello everyone! Over the past few days i have had a seriously good clear out within my beauty items. I decided to be ruthless and tried to free myself from the emotional attachment I've made with some products i don't even like!

Why is it that i cannot physically throw makeup away?!

Here are my empties and the products that i don't like that i DID actually throw in the bin.

There is no particular order to these empties. I personally prefer reading them randomly than having clear cut sections, so here we go!

Nivea Powerfruit fresh Shower Gel
I received this in a gift set at Christmas. Thinking nothing special of it, i used it a couple of weeks ago after i ran out of another shower gel. I am now a convert to this one!

I don't know why i like this product! It doesn't particularly have a scent or make my skin feel moisturised however when i do use this shower gel i feel so so so clean. I'm unsure as to whether i am only feeling like this because the phrase 'powerfruit fresh' is very inviting or this shower gel somehow manages to clean me better than any other product.

I will be repurchasing this very soon as this is officially empty!

Elegant Touch Moisture Balance Nail Polish Remover
I was excited to try this as the words 'moisture balance' really drew me in. I paint my nails alot and they really do need that bit of extra moisture brought back to the surface.

I extremely dislike this product. I am very disappointed as i love a lot of the other Elegant Touch items! This remover has possibly the strongest most chemical smelling scent ever. It literally chokes me every time i use it. It also is not especially effective at removing nail polish and involves alot of rubbing and buffing.

Even though i used the whole bottle up i saw no moisturising benefits, and will not be repurchasing this again.

Benefit They're Real Mascara
This has to go. It's completely empty and dry. This mascara is the first high end mascara i have ever owned! I went through phases of loving it then leaving it for a longgg time.

This mascara is overall a good product. It creates a nice wispy look to lashes and does not clump up at all. The brush is nice and it looks really good on lower lashes. However this product to me personally is nothing 100% special. I much prefer my Maybelline Lash Sensational, which is half the price of this one!

I would repurchase this again as it is not a bad product, and mine is so old that the new ones might contain a better formula.

Nivea In Shower Body Moisturiser
I have very dry eczema prone skin and was looking forward to trying this out! This came in the gift set i received at Christmas with the Powerfruit Shower Gel.

This product is moisturising, i'll give it that. My legs felt lovely and hydrated when i got out of the bath. However i didn't feel clean. Instead of sinking into my skin it sort of sat on the outer layer and felt as if it was clogging up skin and building up on the outside. When i put my (black)trousers on a good 20 minutes after, it left a white layer all over my clothes and i had to get changed!

I definitely regret this product, it just has too many inconveniences for me.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation
A complete empty product. This is my second jar of this foundation and i have two more backed up in my makeup storage.

I cannot explain my love for this! This foundation is a dry skin lovers dream. It's glowy, healthy looking, moisturising and has an amazing smell that reminds me of holidays.

I have already repurchased this 3 times and will continue to do so for a long time!

Nivea Men Post Shave Balm
I'm sure you have seen the hype on this product. Nikkietutorials raves about this constantly along with many other beauty guru's.

I'm really really unsure about this product. I can tolerate the slightly manly smell, and it sinks into my skin nicely. However that's about it. I can't say my makeup has lasted longer with this on at all! I cannot actually tell a difference whether i use this or use nothing!

I will not be repurchasing this hyped up product as i personally cannot see what it is actually doing on my skin! Let me know your opinions on this product as it's left me a little confused. (Seriously!)

Blue Lagoon Moisturising Cream
I like this moisturiser. It has a gentle scent that is definitely not too over powering and it sinks in well. It's light enough to wear under foundation without looking greasy and does a great job at sinking in to any dry/damaged areas on my face.

I would 100% repurchase this as a light day to day moisturiser!

MAC Lipstick in Blankety
Ahhhhhhh my holy grail in life. I do not have much to say about this lipstick as i'm not sure i have the vocabulary to describe my love for it. I have gone through three of these in the past three years and will continue to do so for the rest of my life! This shade is my perfect nude, it's creamy, glossy, suits my dealthy pale skin tone and just completes any makeup look.

Ultimate Repurchase.

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Deep Reconstructer Hair Treatment
This hair product is unreal. Honestly i urge you to go and buy this whatever your hair type! My hair type is thick, long, and has bleach running through the under layers. This hair reconstructer has saved my hair's life. After using this treatment, my hair feels honestly like silk. It goes so soft, and so shiny and just feels restored back to the best quality it can be.

I desperately need to go out and buy this again ASAP! I can't be without it.

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Mascara
This mascara had to go as it was dry and old. I did really like it when i wore it, the big curvy brush gave my lashes so much volume and definition. However i probably wouldn't repurchase this item as i have since found better mascara's for me personally.

That's it for my empties! Please let me know your thoughts on the Nivea Post Shave Balm in the comments! Thanks for reading

MAC Warm Neutrals Palette, Review, Swatches and is it really worth £65?!

Hello! Long time no speak, i know. I managed to get myself caught up in the real world, of working, illness and anything else that could have been a massive weight added onto my shoulders.

But that's over! I'm back and i'm ready to sit at my computer for hours and chat on about beauty.

I was very kindly brought the MAC Warm Neutrals Palette for Christmas from my boyfriend. I can't believe he went into Debenhams all by himself and asked the woman for "the palette by MAC that's full of gold-ish colours" just for me! awwww.

This palette contains 15 full sized MAC shadows, and as you have probably guessed by the palette name, all the colours are warm toned and neutral! Warm neutrals contains a mixture of: (F) Frost (L) Lustre (M) Matte (S) Satin (V) Velvet and (VXP) Veluxe Pearl.

MAC Individual shadow refills usually cost £10.00 each, but if you buy this palette for £65 (yes £65! that is definitely expensive!) each shadow works out to be close to £4.30. Which is a pretty good deal if you can see past the fact that the whole palette is worth alot.

Swatches

Top to Bottom: (Hey, Warm Breeze, Gingersnap)
Hey is a very peachy shimmery neutral colour. When wearing this on my eyelids i have trouble getting the colour to pay off however it is lovely to use as a light transition shade.

Warm Breeze is a true peach. This is also a little difficult to get the pigmentation to appear because of my very light skin tone.

Gingersnap is stunning. One of my favourites from the palette. It adds a nice pinky/reddy shimmery look to the eyes without making you look like you have got hayfever as some reds/pinks do!

(Brew, Dance in the Dark)

Brew is a really pretty red toned brown shade with a bit of pink shimmer in. It looks gorgeous on especially paired with Gingersnap.

Dance in the dark is a true dark matte brown, keeping those red/pink undertones still.

(Brule, Vanilla Extract, Honey Lust)

Brule is more of a whitey peach colour. It is very pale and again this doesn't show up so well on my skin tone however this is also good for a transition shade.

Vanilla extract is a very pretty light champagne orange. It is very subtle yet gives off a gorgeous healthy glow to the eyes.

Honey lust is stunning. It is staying with the orange tones of the second row but isn't pure orange. This is similar to vanilla extract only slightly darker.

(Amber lights, Saddle)

Amber lights is my ultimate favourite in this palette! The pigmentation is unreal and it is so shimmery and buttery.

Saddle is a matte orange with brown undertones. This colour is gorgeous with a really warm toned eye look.

Right to left now as Blogger is being annoying and not letting me switch the photo! (Lemon tart, Creative Copper, Butterfudge)

Lemon tart is gorgeous. It is a proper lemon coloured shade with gorgeous shimmer running through it.

Creative copper is also just as gorgeous! This is more of a true gold than a yellow.

Butterfudge is a mixture of golds and browns. This is a stunning sandy colour.

(Divine Decadence, Unwind)

Divine decadence is a really beautiful frosted brown with gold flecks.

Unwind is more of a dirty gold shade however the word 'dirty' in this sense is amazing. The colour is gorgeous and muted yet still really effective and unusual.

Pros of the Palette:
  • Each shade works out to be around £6 cheaper than if you were to buy them individually
  • So many different looks can be created as there is good colour variation
  • Good quality, buttery, long wearing shades
  • Mixtures of all the different eyeshadow textures
  • Great for travelling
Cons of the Palette:
  • The total price is very expensive
  • The first two colours on the first and second rows have little pigmentation (perhaps just on my skintone?)
  • The packaging is tricky and hurts if you trap your finger in it! (don't do it. I have three times)

Overall i personally love this palette and will continue to use it until i hit pan on every shade (ambitious!). I feel slightly disappointed at the colour pay off of a couple of shadows but this does not stop me loving all of the others!

Get ready with me! Golden smoked eyes + dewy skin Video!

So, recently i have been trying to push my makeup skills further, and go a little bit out of my comfort zone. I have begun posting makeup looks, (mainly eye work) over on my Instagram! I have wanted to film a little video tutorial for a while, but using a 2008 very old very slow HP laptop, it was a struggle.

I finally got round (after several long, slow hours) to finishing up a video filming my makeup of the day!

The sped up version with music can be found on IG (forgetmenotchloe) but here is the full length, more detailed version. Enjoy!

Freedom Makeup Haul, Review and Swatches! ♡

After hearing that one of my favourite drugstore brands, (Makeup Revolution) created a sister company called 'Freedom Makeup' i was ridiculously excited! Makeup Revolution cosmetics make me happy. They are so affordable, and have some amazing dupes for popular high end products. I had a little nosey round the Freedom Makeup site on Black Friday and made a couple of purchases.

Freedom Makeup - PRO STUDIO Priming Water (usually £6 was £3 on Black Friday)

After having no success with spray on primers ever, and about 100 breakouts from them i was curious to try this one! This one can be used as a primer to create a base for your makeup or on the top of your makeup as a type of setting spray.

This lightweight water spray comes out the bottle effectively and i usually use around 3-4 sprays across my face. It dries really quickly allowing me to get on with the rest of my makeup! I have found it is nice and hydrating for my dry skin and honestly does leave a nice base for the rest of my makeup. My foundation definitely goes on smoother after using this spray. The only downside of this however is the smell. I think it smells quite similar to what i imagine toilet water to smell like yuckkkkk, however the product is really good and i will continue to use and repurchase!

Freedom Makeup - PRO Melts Lipgloss (Jammy Dodger) £3

When i ordered this it was purely for fun! I'm a nude lips girl and always will be, but as i'm trying to be a little more adventurous makeup wise and this was only £3 i thought why not!

The lipgloss goes on ever so smoothly. It is nowhere near as glossy and sticky as a gloss but gives a nice creamy sheen on the lips. The gloss is very opaque and creates a full lip coverage. I was so happy with the texture and smoothness of this lipgloss, it's gorgeous! It also lasts nicely and once dry doesn't leave you with horrible smudge marks. I was 10000% be ordering more of these in other colours (nude) soon.

Freedom Makeup - House of Glam Dolls 'Fairy Doll' Palette £8

Freedom makeup have currently teamed up with House of Glam Dolls to create 4 versatile palettes containing eyebrow powders, eyeshadows, highlight shades, a blush a contour colour and lipglosses. For £8 this is so worth the money!

I picked the Fairy Doll Palette purely for the gorgeous bright shadows! All of the eyeshadows apply really nicely to the lids and can be made even bolder by using a fixing spray on a brush when applied.

Here are the swatches for this palette (excuse the quality, Britain's weather does not want to play nicely with my camera and swatches)

Eyebrow Powders, Brunette, Bark, Mischief and Ebony.

Highlight Colours, Starlight, Light and Haze.

This is currently rivaling my Mary Lou! So beautiful

Eyeshadows, Cloud, Magic, Petal and Glade.

Eyeshadows, Sorcery and Bloom.

Eyeshadows, Pure, Fantasy, Ash and Jet.

Contour and Blush, Nature and Flutter.

Lipglosses (difficult to capture!) Spell, Believe, Enchant and Wicked

NEW Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24hr Creamy Mattes Review!

Maybelline have recently added two new Colour Tattoo Cream Eyeshadows to their already brilliant collection! Unlike the original colour tattoo's with added shimmer and metallic tones, these new duo are completely matte.

The first colour is Creme De Nude, a typical nude colour which is supposed to be a very good dupe for the MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre and the second colour is Creme De Rose which is supposed to be a dupe for the MAC Paint Pot in Painterly.

These two were £4.99 each from Boots and took a couple of shopping trips to finally find pots that were in stock/didn't have dirty finger prints inside and all over the lid!

Creme De Nude: When this was first swatched on the back of my hand when i arrived home it came out very orange toned. I was expecting more of an exact flesh colour, but with me being so pale i let this slide and decided too see how it looked on my lid. When applied to my lid without primer or moisturiser as a base this cream shadow felt really dry. The colour looked good on my lid though and much less orange now! I then reapplied this onto my lid when i had moisturised before hand and that horrible dry feeling was gone!

I 100% recommend if you have dry skin to wear a moisturiser underneath these! It won't affect the quality of the shadow and will stop it drying out your skin.

Creme De Rose: This is definitely my favourite of the two. It has exactly the same texture and consistency as Creme De Nude. It is a very natural colour and is almost closer than my eyelid colour than the Nude. This can be worn on it's own and creates a gorgeous pinky look to your eyes without making you look like Barbie!

I have worn these on their own and as a primer underneath regular shadows and i can definitely agree that they last! These cream pots simply do not budge which is amazing for the price of £4.99!

Pros:

  • Long lasting
  • Nice, neutral colours
  • Really good primer alternative
  • Affordable
Cons:
  • Drying if used without moisturiser

Swatches:

I would 100% buy more of these type of cream shadows if any more new matte colours were released! They are so good for the price and are suchhhh a good alternative to any eye primers i've tried!

Have you tried these before? What do you think! Let me know in the comments,
Chloe
